Dutch second
division side Fortuna Sittard have poured cold water widely reported sacking of
former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.
The club on Tuesday took to the social media to debunk the story
insisting that the former Eagles defender who was appointed to the position in
late December 2016 is still in charge of the club.
"Today,
various media reports appeared about the position of head coach, Sunday Oliseh.
However, Fortuna Sittard denies the news about the dismissal of the head
coach" the club said.
Oliseh who
joined the Dutch side shortly after unimpressive outing with CHAN Eagles at the
2016 edition held in Rwanda, has since led Fortuna Sittard to their first
silverware in 23 years.
The promotion chasing side emerged as winners of the second
period in the in the Eerste Divisie after finishing as league leaders at the
end of Matchday 20.
But the side
have not been in their super form in the new year with two victories in five matches.
Their 2-1 victory over Ajax II was followed
by back to back defeats by Dordrecht and Emmen respectively. The back to back defeat may have triggered
off the sack speculation which the club has quickly dismissed as unfounded.
Fortuna
Sittard who are third on the log in the 20-team Eerste Divisie with 44 points in
22 matches will take on 15th placed Volendam on Friday.
